Veterinary medicines are the substances of plant, animal or synthetic origin, intended for diagnostics, prevention and treatment of animal diseases, increase their productivity, rodent and pest control, as well as substances used as animal perfume and cosmetics.
State registration or re-registration of the veterinary products means the inclusion the veterinary products basing on results of their trials, verification, registration studies into the State Register as well as issuing the registration certificates of a certain form by the Ministry of Agriculture of the Republic of Kazakhstan and in accordance with established law.
List of veterinary medicinal products subject to state registration
State register of veterinary drugs, feed additives and feeds of the Republic of Kazakhstan consists of several sections:
- Medicines for the treatment and prevention of infectious diseases in animals, including hyperimmune serum, vaccines, immunomodulators;
- Diagnostic kits;
- Protein, vitamin and mineral supplements, excipients, premixes, dyes and flavorings used in the manufacture of feed and pet food;
- Antibiotics, pharmaceutical chemicals, hormones, enzymes, vitamins, amino acids, perfume and cosmetic products for animals, radiopharmaceuticals;
- Rodent control products, disinfectants and disinsectants.
State register of veterinary drugs, feed additives and feeds is published in accordance with the laws of the Kazakhstan Republic "On Food Safety" and "On veterinary"

During the registration process, the applicant is an individual or a legal entity which submits the an application for the State registration of re-registration of veterinary drug.
For State Registration of veterinary drugs an applicant must provide a specific set of documents to the Ministry of Agriculture of the Republic of Kazakhstan:
- The application for the registration of veterinary drugs in the established form;
- A set of documents (two copies) for the pharmacological and biological products (in case of re-registration only one copy is needed) in the national and (or) Russian languages, and for foreign ones – in English with official translation attached.
Correctness and completeness of the documents and veterinary product samples is examined by the Ministry of Agriculture of the Republic of Kazakhstan within five working days. Then one set of documents and product samples is redirected to the laboratory for control and study of the veterinary drugs for the registration tests.
The costs for approbation, expertise and registration tests are covered by the applicant.
The registration tests of the veterinary product are carried out within 55 working days. Next, the laboratory reports to the Ministry of Agriculture and provides the examination certificate. Then the Ministry of Agriculture of the Republic of Kazakhstan, basing on the examination certificate the certificate of registration tests carried out by the laboratory, within a week takes a positive or a negative decision.
In case of positive decision, the registration certificate is issued to the applicant. In case of negative – the applicant receives the refusal to register the veterinary product.
